Dubai Chocolate Mug Cake
Craving Dubai chocolate but short on time? This single-serve mug cake is done in 5 minutes: a molten chocolate sponge with a hidden pistachio cream heart and a kataifi crunch on top.
Step-by-step instructions
Mix dry ingredients
In a large microwave-safe mug, whisk together flour, sugar, cocoa and baking powder.
Add wet ingredients
Add egg, milk and oil. Whisk with a fork until smooth and no dry patches remain.
Add filling
Press a tablespoon of pistachio cream into the centre of the batter — push it down slightly so it's partially covered.
Microwave
Microwave on high for 90 seconds. Check — the centre should be just set. Add 10–15 seconds if needed.
Rest
Rest in the microwave for 1 minute before eating — it finishes cooking from residual heat and the centre melts beautifully.
Top and eat
Top with the remaining pistachio cream and a generous scatter of toasted kataifi. Eat directly from the mug.
